It was first developed for Apple Macintosh in the year 1986. It was developed as a commercialized version of Adobe's in house post script file format. Right now it is proving to be very popular due to its new version CS3. Its release was considered a gamble because Apple didn't have a big market share at that time.

Adobe InDesign

Adobe systems produced another desktop publishing software known as Adobe InDesign. It is coded in the C++ programming language. It was launched in the market as a competitor to Quark Xpress. At first it didn't attract many users but afterwards it picked up a little when it was clubbed together with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat in the Creative Suite series released by Adobe. Its latest version CS3 was launched in April 2007.
